South Asian Institute of Crime and Justice Studies

Our Approach

Our work is grounded in the understanding that social issues are deeply contextual; shaped by local norms, histories, and institutional dynamics. That’s why we prioritize locally informed, evidence-based interventions that are co-created with stakeholders and responsive to real-world complexities. We specialize in research, multi-stakeholder convenings, capacity-building, and the design of context-specific interventions, with a particular emphasis on the intersections of gender, crime, and justice.

Why Context Matters

Effective interventions must be rooted in the lived realities of the communities they aim to serve. A context-specific approach ensures that:

  • Root causes are accurately identified and addressed

  • Local actors are empowered to lead and sustain change

  • Solutions are culturally resonant, politically feasible, and structurally relevant

  • Resources are used efficiently and equitably

Whether we're designing interventions to increase women’s participation in the police force, develop institutional mechanisms for gender-sensitive justice, or build cross-sectoral strategies to address violence and exploitation, we ensure that every initiative is both evidence-driven and grounded in local realities.
